Intravenous nutrient therapy was first developed in the 1960s by a pioneer physician, John Myers. His research led to the renowned Myers Cocktail, which combines magnesium, calcium, Vitamin C and various B vitamins. IV nutrient drip is a quick and efficient way to deliver vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants and fluids straight into the bloodstream so you are able to utilise them straight away.

Are IV drips worth it?

In an ideal world, our nutritional requirements would be met by eating a balanced and nutritious diet. Unfortunately, the growing demands of the modern lifestyle are having a significant impact on our nutritional needs – stress, anxiety, lack of sleep, environmental toxins, compromised microbiome and dieting all impact the body’s ability to absorb the nutrients needed to optimise health. This is where IV nutrient therapy can help as it provides an extra boost of these nutrients, administered directly into the bloodstream.

The key benefits of IV therapy:

  • 100% absorption: Iv drips allow your body to absorb 100% of the nutrients as opposed to 10% absorption from oral supplementation.
  • Fast and effective: Iv therapy usually lasts for around 45 minutes (vitamin C therapy can take a little bit longer). Typically, the effects become fully noticeable after 12 – 24 hours and they last for anything between 8 days to 3 weeks depending on your health and the Iv nutrient mixture of your choice.
  • Scientifically proven: nutrients included in our mixtures have been scientifically proven to optimise health and vitality for over 40 years.

What are the 3 main types of IV fluids?

As part of our integrative services, we offer a range of conventional and bespoke Intravenous nutrient therapies to revitalise our clients’ health and help them reverse chronic disease.

Almost anyone can benefit from IV nutrient therapy. Many of our relatively healthy clients use our Iv services periodically to re-energise, rehydrate and to get an immune boost. However, Iv drips are very effective at supporting a number of health complaints too:

  1. Immune support: for an acute or recurrent infection or chronic illness.
  2. Sports performance: if you are training for a strength or endurance event and want to optimise hydration.
  3. Skin conditions: if you are suffering from conditions such as eczema, acne, psoriasis and rosacea.

They may also be beneficial to support fertility, mitochondrial and endocrine function (such as Fibromyalgia, Lyme’s disease and Thyroid conditions); asthma, recurring migraines, heart conditions and aid detoxification and weight loss

Is IV better than drinking water?

Ensuring that you drink plenty of water and stay hydrated play a big part in how you feel physically and mentally. It can help us stay alert, productive and allows us to function at our best. Water is the 2nd most important thing for us to survive after oxygen. It is essential we maintain hydration to ensure our vital organs such as the brain and kidneys can work properly. However, there are certain situations when iv drip for dehydration can be beneficial, for example: during and following acute illness and infection, vomiting or diarrhoea, following endurance sport events; and it may even help to shift a hangover.

How to get Iv fluids at home (UK)? You can have intravenous fluids at home with our carefully formulated Iv infusions. The immune-boosting and sports performance drips are the most popular ones for rehydration and are a great choice to help replete those all-important hydrating nutrients.

We can also blend bespoke IV’s for our patients as and when required. Check out our prices here.
