Victoria is qualified in an eclectic mix of disciplines. Her training began as a way to find answers to her own serious illness which arose at age 17 and was misdiagnosed by conventional medicine for over a decade.
To understand what was happening to her own body – and how to heal – she began studying Naturopathy and Nutrition alongside psychotherapy, counselling and behavioural psychology (she is a member of the Federation of Nutritional Therapy Practitioners and the International Association of Hypnotherapists and NLP Practitioners). She also investigated energy medicine and eastern traditions whilst simultaneously rooting herself in scientific research, training in Functional Biochemistry and Functional Medicine with the Kresser Institute. This combined education provided a truly holistic understanding not only of systems biology but also of how psychology and emotions influence wellbeing.
Eventually, Victoria had her own diagnoses: Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (or EDS – a genetic connective tissue disorder) and associated, extensive gastrointestinal and neurological complications along with Mast Cell Activation Disorder and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. Conventional approaches to these conditions were inadequate and unhelpful – so using her breadth of knowledge, Victoria used her training to rebuild the health of each system of her body and transform her nutrition, lifestyle and mindset. In so doing, she achieved almost complete remission in the symptoms of her conditions.
She became passionate about helping others to understand and tackle their own health issues, so continued her education into all facets of illness, studying more deeply into genetics, hormones, digestion (neuro-gastroenterology, SIBO), mental health and immune dysregulation. She now uses her knowledge and experiences to help others as a Functional Medicine and Nutrition practitioner, most often dealing with complex, multifaceted cases which have many comorbidities. Her approach is to identify and treat what underlies her patients’ health issues whilst offering empathetic support and being deeply mindful of the stresses and psychological/emotional burdens that accompany chronic illness.
Victoria deals with a wide array of conditions, but specialises in heightened immune activation (identifying and addressing the root causes) and complex, chronic digestive disturbances, especially where there is neurological involvement.
She is expert in crafting bespoke nutritional approaches to help super-sensitive patients deal with digestive, immune and hormonal dysregulation. She has a history of working in psychiatry and using Functional Medicine to support those with mental health issues and patients taking psychiatric medications. Given her personal health story, she is also sought-after globally to help patients who are dealing with the diverse mast cell, neurological and gastroenterological complications that accompany connective tissue disorders such as EDS.
